Now what...

There is little doubt that the Republican ticket had tremendous obstacles to overcome in the recent election and it is with great sorrow that the keepers of this site post today's response to the Democrat successes.

We've listened to the pundits, commentators, bull shooters, and straight shooters and have drawn our own conclusions.

This morning, we find that our conclusions are basically summed up by an article posted on Town Hall's website written by Burt Prelutsky. And, since we probably couldn't have stated it more eloquently, here is the link:
http://townhall.com/columnists/BurtPrelutsky/2008/11/14/mourning_in_america?page=1

Please take time to read it in its entirety. It will explain our recent silence here at this blog (we are in mourning) as well as our stand on all things American, and to us, sacred about the land we love.

We will continue to post on this site primarily for the sake of those who, like us, love the USA and continue to have hope that an awakening and realization will come that will bring the kind of change that really IS needed.

WHAT IS AT STAKE

Not wanting to be those who post gloom and doom messages, we cannot ignore what is at stake in this election. In this blog we will expound on the reasons to support the McCain-Palin ticket. They are all equally important to us but we must start somewhere. So today's topic is our military and national defense.

At the end of this blog will be a link where you can watch Obama confirm the contents of this blog with his own mouth.

In October of 2007, Obama outlined his plan for our National Defense under an Obama administration. Following are the highlights:

1) He will end the war and withdraw troops immediately. (White flag of surrender, anyone?)

2) He will cut "tens of billions of dollars" in what he calls "wasteful" defense spending, including the spending on the Iraq war.

3) He will cut investment in missile defense systems.

4) He will NOT weaponize space (i.e. end spending on Star Wars, which is making great progress).

5) He will slow the development of future combat systems.

6) He will institute an independent defense priorities board to reign in "unnecessary" spending.

7) He will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons.
a. He will not develop new nuclear weapons
b. He will seek a ban on all fissile material
c. He will negotiate with RUSSIA to take our ICBMs off hair trigger alert and to achieve deep
cuts in our nuclear arsenals.

8) His SOLE priority in defense spending will be protecting America.

9) Further, in May 2008 in a campaign speech, Obama said that Iran, Venezuela and N. Korea were tiny countries who did not pose a serious threat to the U.S. Perhaps Mr. Obama is unaware of Putin's meetings with Chavez to discuss arming them with nuclear weapons or Russia's cooperation with Iran on nuclear weapons as well as other arms.

Obama has gotten the approval of Louis Farrakahn (leader of the Nation of Islam), Momar Kadafi, Hugo Chavez, and Ahmed Yousef (Hamas). Do you think the list above could be why? Collin Powell is in fabulous company, isn't he?

Little commentary is needed on Obama's obvious lack of understanding about the current state of the world and our place in it. It is clear that our a strong military and national defense will not be a priority in an Obama administration. Ronald Reagan understood the deterring effect of a strong military to our enemies. Obama is sending a signal of weakness and appeasment that is extraordinarily dangerous given the nuclear age in which we live. We must understand what is at stake in this election and our national defense tops our list as a reason to support the McCain-Palin ticket!

This and That...

The beginning of a new week brings election news headlines that are both encouraging and disturbing.

For starters, it may be disheartening for some readers of this blog that Colin Powell has endorsed Barack Obama. Do not be dismayed--while Colin Powell purports to be a Republican, many of his liberal leanings have been under or unreported by the media. And while he owes much to the true Republicans who were instrumental in elevating him to the position of national prominence he enjoys, he has never born the stripes of a true conservative. Therefore, his endorsement of Obama comes as no surprise to us.

Rush Limbaugh, the well-known commentator, responded to the announcement with these comments in an email according to Politico.com: "Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race, OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with."

Look at it this way if you are worried. Hillary Clinton had the endorsements of Jack Nicholson, Anne Rice, Cher, and O.J. Simpson (oh, we probably should have left the last one out) just to name a few--and she didn't win her party's nomination. Make no mistake, we aren't insinuating that Colin Powell is a Jack Nicholson or Cher equal (take that any way you'd like) but we do point out that it's not very likely that his support will greatly sway or alter this election.

As far as our girl Sarah is concerned, she continues to handle herself with class and dignity in the face of more scrutiny and vitriolic criticism than any Vice Presidential candidate since Dan Quayle.

According to a Washington Post Report, Sarah's appearance on SNL this weekend was a record breaker for the show.

"GOP veep candidate Sarah Palin continues to be the ratings magnet of the
TV season, most recently delivering "Saturday Night Live" its best preliminary
ratings in 14 years. It's hard to make predictions on how many viewers
watched Saturday's "SNL" based on overnight ratings in the so-called
"metered markets," but a rough estimate would put it around 14 million
viewers who watched Palin do her drive-by appearance on the NBC late-night
show. It's the top-scoring "SNL" in 56 of the country's top TV markets since
the March 12, 1994, edition, which, ironically, was not one of the show's
politically themed editions. "

Here's a look at the SNL segment. For now...we will leave you with this: Way to Go Sarah!

For All Who've Expressed Concern!

Thank you for checking our blog and for asking if we've died or fallen off the face of the earth or have discontinued our support for Mrs. Palin.

Fortunately and thankfully, we are still alive, still VERY supportive of Sarah Palin (and John McCain)-- and more than hopeful that the fate of our nation's future will not fall into the hands of the extreme liberals who will further chip away at every remaining vestige of freedom we hold dear.

So, why have we been quiet? Absent? We've been busy working, teaching, speaking, and working some more in order to pay our already excessive DEMOCRAT party imposed tax burden--a burden that will only increase more under a Democrat administration. And we are not wealthy--people should really read the fine print if they think Obama will be good for their pocket books. Under Obama, the Bush tax cuts will expire, and instantly, every person who works and contributes to society will be saddled with those increases combined with the additional burden of funding Obama's plan to redistribute our "wealth". (Thanks to Joe the Plumber for asking the right question so that Obama spoke from his own mouth about his ultimate intent.)

In conclusion, unless you are a welfare recipient or a dead-beat, get ready for higher taxes if Obama is elected...and if that sounds as bad to you as to us, pray that blind eyes are opened, that ACORN voter fraud ceases, and that those who still believe in individual liberty show up to vote in record numbers!

Difficult to Digest...

You've probably heard this, but just in case you haven't, take a listen. We're just wondering how pervasive the ignorance really is out there-- and considering the appeal of Barack Obama, we're thinking this may be more indicative of the rule rather than its exception.

Have we reached the pinnacle of electoral ignorance yet? Without an informed citizenry that is capable of understanding the disastrous ramifications of big government intrusion and its assault on individual liberty, it appears we may be electing an OLD World Order (also known as socialism) under the guise of change here in the "former?" land of the free and home of the brave.

Slam Dunk!

How many of us could possibly digest that much material in less than 5 weeks and then deliver it with so much grace, humor, and spunk? Tonight Gov. Palin absolutely answered whether she is capable of the office for which she has been nominated. She did conservatives, and particularly conservative women, proud!

Yay Sarah!

We at the Women for Sarah Palin blog just wanted to say a big KUDOS/You Go Girl as the debate with Joe Biden comes to a conclusion.

Fred Barnes, "The Weekly Standard," gives her a nod as the debate winner. We're sure there will be pundits and liberal journalists who discredit her, but our opinion is that for a woman who has only been on the ticket for 5 weeks, she proved her exceptional ability to be direct and articulate.

We're gratified that we can post congratulations on her performance in this debate!

Another Important Article...

This article is important for all who want to be informed and aware of issues pertaining to Sarah Palin's candidacy.

The Year Journalism Died

If you are a Conservative, you know that journalism among the Mainstream Media (MSM) in America has been dying a slow, steady and painful death. This election year is the year that it breathed its last. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC not to mention almost every major newspaper and news magazine operate solely as the PR arm of the Democratic party and even more specifically of the the Obama Campaign. Knowing that our readers are not "mind-numbed robots" I will give examples.

This morning when I opened Drudge Report to check on the status of the Bailout Bill, I saw the headline, "VP Debate Moderator Releasing 'Age of Obama' Book on Inauguration Day". Now, that my friends, is unbiased journalism. Charlie Gibson grilled Sarah Palin on the "Bush Doctrine" (and it is now known that there is no singular Bush doctrine) while asking Obama how his parents met and how Obama dealt with being abandoned by his father. Obama's gaffes are numerous and hilarious but never mentioned in the MSM. (For example, did I miss the addition of 7 additional states to our union? Oh, I forgot, he was just tired.) Joe Biden is a gaffe machine and the RNC website actually has a Biden Gaffe Clock tracking the date and time of his gaffes. Did the MSM call into question Joe's competence for his outrageous comments on coal, FDR, being shot at in Iraq and countless other comments?

Far more important than the numerous gaffes are the numerous position changes made only to win the election. Of course, the MSM applies the "Flip Flop" charge only to to those who have an "R" behind their name. Obama is portraying himself as a fiscal conservative and no one in the MSM is challenging him. Obama is a socialist liberal and his voting record, work history and plans for America all show it to be so. Obama is portraying himself as strong on national defense. Please review his speech on the 10 ways he plans to obliterate our national defense including massive decreases in military spending across the board, including missile defense. Obama is portraying himself as tough on foreign policy when he has said that Iran is tiny country that poses no serious threat. Obama is portraying himself as moderate centrist when he has the most liberal voting record in the Senate and has closely associated himself throughout his adult life with radicals.

So when the MSM attacks Sarah Palin in their search and destroy missions, I have to laugh at the intensity of their hatred for her and how striking the lack of substance in the attack. So Sarah Palin could not name three (additional) pieces of legislation sponsored by Senator McCain - Obama is unaware of the very nature of evil, the failure of socialism globally, the deterring effect of a strong military, and the enduring promise of individual liberty free from government tyranny. I'll take my chances with Sarah.

Dear Karen...

We're glad that you're reading our blog and appreciate your interest and concern. We've been really busy for the last several days but did want to take a moment to respond to your passionate comments.

We'll begin by saying that it really boils down to who you read and who you listen to as to what you believe and perceive. We are not unaware of the fact that Sarah Palin is an imperfect person (as are ALL three of the other Presidential /Vice Presidential contenders) so we hope your fears that we are unenlightened are allayed.

As previously noted, we started this blog to give voice to those who share our favorable views of Mrs. Palin, a Washington outsider who has been a successful Governor, the chance to send good wishes and kind words to a woman who has been the victim of malicious if not slanderous assaults by many in the media who seem terrified by the threat she may or may not pose to the democrat ticket.

We've read the unfavorable articles and watched the interviews. In response, our plan is to continue to maintain this blog as a source and resource for those who want to remark positively about a woman we continue to believe is as qualified to be Vice President as Barack Obama would be if he were in a more suitable position on his party's ticket. We do not believe that he has the expertise, intelligence, or experience to be the leader of our country based on his inability to communicate well without a teleprompter or to tell the same story twice without changing details depending on his audience--not to mention his socialist policies or his alliances with people like Saul Alinsky, Jeremiah Wright, ACORN, and on and on the list goes: http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/01/obamas_alinsky_jujitsu.html.

Two articles that answer some of the concerns you raise are linked here: http://townhall.com/Columnists/FredThompson/2008/09/30/qualified
http://townhall.com/columnists/HughHewitt/2008/09/30/sarah_palin_i_know_what_americans_are_going_through

Hopefully, we can agree to disagree about these matters realizing that in politics there are passions that run deep, and in spite of all the negative wind that blows out there, we're just gonna choose to continue to play fair and be nice, unlike so many others out there in the blogosphere.

One more thing, was Joe Biden really shot at in Iraq?

Positive Reader Response to Lisa's Comment

Thank you, Lisa in Belmont, for sharing Michael Reagan's words. I could not agree more with your comments and his! I feel that those involved with Obama are among those who would hijack our country and take us down a path of sure destruction. I pray there are enough righteous people in America praying for Sarah & Todd Palin and their family, as well as John & Cindy McCain, that God will have mercy on us and spare us from what Obama as president would mean for our country. Choosing Sarah Palin as a running mate was a brillant decision on the part of John McCain! I just love her! Her interview with Sean Hannity was awesome and showed that she is absolutely ready to serve in whatever capacity comes her way.

She's not a Harvard grad or neighborhood fiddler

I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a campaign. Sarah Palin has swooped in and revived the Republican ticket in a way I never believed possible. As I've watched this impressive woman take hit after hit after hit, I must admit that I kept waiting for something -- anything -- to come out that would discredit her. That is the way it goes in politics in America, right? Boy am I glad I waited for nothing. Sarah Palin is who she says she is -- A TRUE REFORMER!! How refreshing! I believe she will keep John McCain on his toes during his presidency and quite frankly, I'm excited for our next presidential election where she will become our first female American President! I recently read an article that Michael Reagan wrote after the RNC regarding Sarah Palin and her similarities to his father --- I couldn't go on without citing these words:

"Sarah Palin didn't go to Harvard, or fiddle around in urban neighborhood leftist activism while engaging in opportunism within the ranks of one of the nation's most corrupt political machines, never challenging it and going along to get along, like Barack Obama.
Instead she took on the corrupt establishment in Alaska and beat it, rising to the governorship while bringing reforms to every level of government she served in on her way up the ladder." (Michael Reagan, 2008)

Couldn't have said it better myself. Obama may say change, but McCain/Palin have actually effected change in their careers. Go McCain/Palin!!!!

Boomerang

In response to the questions raised about Sarah Palin's qualifications or readiness to be the Vice President, Cleta Mitchell wrote a great article published in the Independent Women's Forum. (http://www.iwf.org/news/show/20672.html)

One paragraph in particular amused me:
"And even if Sarah Palin is as ‘unqualified' as the left would have us believe (a claim most Americans have already rejected), then former Congresswoman Bella Abzug's (D-NY) lifelong goal has been achieved. She used to say that she was "working for the day when a mediocre woman could get as far as a mediocre man." So every time the Obama campaign slams Sarah Palin's ‘qualifications' and ‘experience', the residue of those attacks lands squarely back on their own candidate."

A restatement of this blog's purpose

As noted in the sidebar, the purpose of this blog is to allow any women who wish to counter the sentiments expressed at the Women Against Sarah Palin blog a platform for doing so. This stated, if you wish to express your opposition to her candidacy, that is your place to go--they will welcome and gladly accept your contribution.

If you have positive comments to make about Sarah's candidacy, this is the place to make them. We recognize that there are passionate feelings held by many good women on both sides of this aisle and appreciate that not everyone is inclined to agree that John McCain's choice was brilliant. Because of that, we're happy that for your sakes you have other options about where to express your feelings, and again, that place is not here. As a dear friend of mine once said, opinions are like belly buttons, everbody's got one. We are no exceptions and since this is our blog, we are choosing to keep it Sarah-friendly.

In order to further clarify the reason for this restatement of purpose, we have received one comment in response to the previous post that we will copy and paste in total because we'd like to accomplish two things--

A. We want to give this person's remarks a proper and thoughtful response (a common concern is raised in his or her comment that we want to address)
and
B. We want to use this opportunity to again remind anyone who reads this blog that we will read any comments you wish to send, but in the future the only posts to this blog will be from those who are Sarah Palin supporters.

So now for the comment from a passionate reader:
"I grew up in about the most profoundly conservative church denomination in existence, and everything that Sarah states she believes is as I was taught. And very truthfully, I am not disputing her faith or her ideals. This does not change the fact that she is NOT READY TO BE VICE PRESIDENT. A Bible Study leader, yes. VP, no. Please understand, there's a difference!"~
R Barnett

Dear Mr. or Ms. Barnett: Thank you for your thoughts. We respectfully ask that you read and consider this response that so clearly, concisely, and convincingly argues FOR Mrs. Palin's readiness to serve our country in this article from the American Thinker. http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/09/palins_experience_weapon.html

If there is any doubt about her capabilities or readiness to assume the role of Vice President, they are dispelled (in our humble opinions) by this thought provoking article. Enjoy!

a woman who is praying for the angry and misinformed

I am praying every day for Sarah & Todd Palin and their family, as I hope many others will do. I pray God will also help the raging, angry, misinformed American citizens to see and know the truth. The future of our country depends on it.

Anti-Woman

The thing that I find SO amusing is when other women call Mrs. Palin..."anti-woman". It may be one of the most absurd things I have ever heard from another female's mouth. This is a woman who has lived the feminist's dream, having five children and a career, along with a husband who stays home to take care of the kids!

If you are pro life--pro gun-- and heaven forbid-- a believer that God created this wonderful earth we live on, you are "anti-woman"? Well slap me with a stick and call this mom anti-woman, too.

How about these women who are soley against Sarah Palin because she is not afraid to speak and live what she believes, call it what it is..and that is relgion"ism"..they hate her ( their words) because she stands by her faith and is not afraid to let us all know it. Sarah Palin is not "anti-woman", she is pro woman, but anti-crap!
Angie, 30-something, Harrisburg
